The chair is inspired by the Brno Chair model. The Brno Chair is a modern cantilever chair designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in 1929-1930 for the bedroom of the Tugendhat House in Brno, Czech Republic. The Brno Chair has become a classic of modern furniture. The project was born with very clean lines, with a steel frame in one piece, folded in the shape of C from the center of the back, around the front edge of the seat (to create the arms), and back under the seat to create a cantilever, with round seat and back covered in leather. There are two versions of the chair, one in flat steel and the other in tubular steel. The metal was originally made of polished stainless steel; some modern examples are chromed.
