Pietro Fornasetti was an artist of the 20th century with so many sides: designer, decorator, painter, curator. His units were produced in series, furthermore some limited numbers have made the history of Italian design.

He did produce 13,000 creations during his career, including a production of 20th century objects and furniture. Their decorations were really unique ones. Milan, 1940 he founded the atelier and fine art salon with his name, Fornasetti, still presented under the direction of his son Barnaba.

His career as an artist took a turning point when he met Giò Ponti.This meeting and further close collaboration could give a life to the famous “lunari”, commissioned by Giò Ponti. This common project had an enormous impact on Piero’s artistic life, offering the ability to create calendars, posters, magazine covers.

The idea of transferring the graphic activity to a furniture was born exactly this way. This is how the Architecture trumeaus were born, perfectly exhibited at the IX Triennale, 1951. This project had such a strong influence that it gave him a possibility to create a whole series of furnishings including chairs, tables, sideboards, chests, vases and silk screened plates.
